U.S. Congressman

The Resume

    (April 18, 1962- )
Born in Washington, District of Columbia
Birth name is Karen Christine Walker
    Republican
Chair of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners (2003-2006)
26th Secretary of State of Georgia (2007-2010)
Ran for Governor of Georgia in 2010, and later the Senate in 2014
Senior Vice President at Susan G. Komen for the Cure (2011-2012)
Won the special election to fill the vacant District-6 House seat, defeating Democrat opponent Jon Ossoff (Jun. 20, 2017)

Why she might be annoying:

She looks like Katy Mixon on American Housewife.
She expressed support for banning same-sex couple adoption, citing her religious opposition to it.
She was endorsed by Donald Trump but avoided mentioning his name like Kryptonite.
Her last name is frequently misspelled as 'Handle' (including by the President).
She was heavily criticized for a debate gaffe in which she professed to 'not support a livable wage.'
She was dubbed a 'Mama Grizzly' by Sarah Palin in 2010, despite not having any actual children.
And, unlike her fellow Mama Grizzlies endorsed during the Midterm elections, she failed to secure even a primary win.
She tried seeking political office again in 2014 but fared even worse, this time finishing third of three primary candidates.
She was at the center of the Susan G. Komen Foundation controversy, after she forced their hand in pulling funding from Planned Parenthood.
The substantial blowback caused the Foundation to promptly reverse the decision. She resigned as a result, later penning a book on the experience entitled 'Planned Bullyhood.'

Why she might not be annoying:

Her mother was a struggling alcoholic.
She is the first Republican woman to represent Georgia in the House of Representatives.
Her race against Ossoff proved to be the most expensive House race in American history.
She left home at the age of seventeen, working her first job while taking night college courses.
She served as deputy chief of staff to Marilyn Quayle, while her husband was Vice President.
She acted as a policy advisor and constituent service supervisor for Governor Sonny Perdue, as his Deputy Chief of Staff.
Her sister was born without an esophagus, which motivated her desire to protect preexisting condition protection even if the ACA is repealed.
She lost her 2010 runoff primary to Gov. Nathan Deal by no fewer than 2,500 votes.
Her 2014 primary opponent, David Perdue, was heavily criticized for taking a shot at her not having a college degree, referring to her as 'the high school graduate in this race.'
Her neigborhood was temporarily shut down after she and her neighbors found envelopes containing a suspicious white powder in their mailboxes.
She thanked Steve Scalise in her Victory speech, acknowledging that they had been in regular contact in the days leading up to his June 14th shooting.
