The Resume

    (September 26, 1927-November 27, 2007)
    Born in San Antonio, Texas
Birth name was James Robert Cade
Professor of medicine and physiology at the University of Florida
Created Gatorade (1965) after studying the effects of the loss of fluids and electrolytes in athletes

Why he might be annoying:

The invention of Gatorade was inspired by a coach asking, 'Why don't football players wee-wee after a game?'
One researcher described the taste of the first batch of Gatorade as 'like toilet bowl cleaner,' and Cade himself vomited after guzzling it.
The University sued him over the patent rights for Gatorade.
He unsuccessfully marketed Hop'n'Gator, a blend of Gatorade and beer.

Why he might not be annoying:

Gatorade became famous when the University of Florida football team credited it for their victory in the Orange Bowl (1967).
He and the University reached an agreement that earns the University over $8 million a year.
Gatorade holds 80% of the sports drink market.
In addition to sports medicine, he researched kidney disease, hypertension, Downs syndrome, autism and schizophrenia.
