Some particularly loopy right-wingers identify her with Hillary Clinton.

Why she might not be annoying:

She is 'arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls.' So she may be a whore, but she still has style.
Revelation prophesizes her downfall at the hands of the Beast.
Most Biblical scholars think she was merely an allegory for Rome at a time when the empire was persecuting Christians.
