Why he might be annoying
He turned down a guest role in 'The Golden Girls' because he felt the scriptwriters weren't sensitive enough about his disability.
By the early 1990s scripts were not forthcoming and he became a chronic alcoholic.
He argued during his trial that he wasn't a true molester because 'I touched her for five seconds.'
He also tried to get leniency by stating he was brain damaged from the accident and alcohol abuse, but the judge would have none of it.
Before the trial he tried to kill himself by jumping off a cliff in Hawaii, but he landed on a ledge and survived.
He had the stones to say after sentencing that it 'makes me look like a goddamn pedophile.' (hello genius, YOU ARE).
Why he might not be annoying
When he adlibbed lines in his screen debut "Sayonara,' the director wanted them done over but star Marlon Brando stuck up for him and the lines were kept.
When his medical bills left him broke, his ex-wives and Hollywood friends raised $118,000 to help him.
In 1976 he received a $1.9 million settlement against the bar that served the drunk driver.
An avid skier before his accident, he continued afterwords with modified equipment.
This led to a 1977 TV movie role about a disabled skier, 'Just a Little Inconvenience,' for which he received an Emmy nomination.
