U.S. Governor

The Resume

    (June 5, 1974- )
    Born in Florence, Mississippi
Birth name was Jonathan Tate Reeves
    State Treasurer (2002-14)
    Lieutenant Governor (2014-20)
Governor of Mississippi (Assumed office January 14, 2020)
    Republican

Why he might be annoying:

During the COVID-19 epidemic, he issued an executive order that overrode local business shutdowns and social distancing regulations, telling Mississippians to get back to ‘life as usual.’
He declared just about every business, including bars, coffee houses, and dine-in restaurants, to be ‘essential services’ and thus allowed to stay open (March 24, 2020).
One day later, he issued a ‘clarification’ that cities would be allowed to issue their own regulations after all.
He resisted issuing stay at home orders, telling people to trust in ‘the power of prayer.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He eventually (after the state had more than a thousand COVID-19 cases) issued a stay at home order (April 3, 2020).
He responded to incidents of ‘mask-shaming’ with ‘Everyone out there that is choosing to wear a mask is actually doing something good for their fellow Mississippians.’
He announced his support for removing the Confederate battle flag from the state flag (June 27, 2020).
