The Resume

    (1970-1975)
    Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
    Original Line-up:
    Greg Brown, vocals and keyboards
Jeff Jones, bass guitar and vocals
    Janice Morgan, guitar and vocals
    Dave Tamblyn, guitar
    Chuck Slater, drums
Recorded the single ‘Put Your Hand in the Hand’ (1971)

Why they might be annoying:

They were reluctant to release ‘Put Your Hand’ as a single, with Brown recalling, ‘We were concerned that it might give the group a gospel image.’
Anne Murray, who had recorded ‘Put Your Hand’ a year earlier, complained that their version was off-key.
By the time the band broke up, everyone but Brown had been replaced.
They were yet another one-hit wonder (alright, two-hit wonder in their native Canada) to release multiple ‘greatest hits’ albums.

Why they might not be annoying:

‘Put Your Hand in the Hand’ hit #10 in Canada, #2 in the US, and earned a gold record with sales of over a million singles.
Murray’s dis may have been sour grapes; she had wanted to release ‘Put Your Hand’ as the follow-up single to her hit ‘Snowbird,’ but Capitol Records refused, releasing a different song that flopped.
Jeff Jones went on to join Red Rider.
Brown, disgusted by the financial rip-offs the band endured, became an artists’ rights advocate.
