The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

When CBC executives decided to cut off a tied match between the Flyers and Canadiens (3-3, March 14, 1987), and only viewers in Quebec were let to see the overtime part, he punctuated his disgust by flipping his pen in front of him.
There is no consensus on whether he quit or was fired after the pen flip.
Don Cherry took his departure a little too personally.

Why he might not be annoying:

He could tolerate and contradict Cherry in the same breath.
Can-West Global tapped him to cover the 1987 and 1988 Stanley Cup playoffs and a few finals.
Following his CFL stint, he hosted broadcasts for the North Stars (then in Minnesota), the Maple Leafs, and the Canucks.
Ron MacLean (his replacement, then 26) interviewed him for several minutes in a surprise appearance on the pre-game portion of a 2018 broadcast.
