    Co-host of 'Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1968-73)'
    Appeared on 'The Dean Martin Show' and 'Love Boat'
    He was a workaholic who neglected his wife.
    He auditioned to host 'Hollywood Squares,' but lost out to Peter Marshall.
    While in the military, he organized a strip show for the troops which turned into a riot.
    He was discharged early on account of 'battle fatigue.'
    A close friend said he was 'spoiled by fame.'
    He was known for his 'soup-strainer' mustache.
    He smoked, even on camera.
    'Laugh-In' was a subversive and influential comedy show.
    On 'Laugh-In,' he predicted the presidency of Ronald Reagan and the year the Berlin Wall fell.
    He inserted vulgar slang into 'Laugh-In,' gambling that the censors wouldn't understand it (and they usually didn't).
    He served as a fighter pilot in Asia during World War II.
    He crashed his plane in New Guinea, and hid from Japanese patrols and crocodiles for days.
