Hall said, 'Bananarama are as talentless as us, so it was a good reason to get together.'
The lyrics to 'Our Lips Are Sealed' came from a letter Hall wrote to Jane Wiedlan, breaking up with her so he could return to his English girlfriend.
After an unsuccessful tour of America, Hall announced the band's end while the other two members were on vacation in Jamaica.
They released two albums, but three greatest hits collections -- six, if you include 'Best of the Specials and Fun Boy Three' compilations.
They went from the ska revivalism of the Specials to a more experimental new wave sound.
David Byrne produced their second album.
Hall's lyrics often showed a deadpan sense of humor.
They had seven top 20 hits in Britain in two years.
