Rescued by US forces after a tip from an Iraqi lawyer (April 1, 2003)
Treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center
Returned to her home (July 22, 2003)

Why she might be annoying:

Her rescue caused a media feeding frenzy.
She was so seriously injured by the Iraqis that she was temporarily confined to a wheelchair.

Why she might not be annoying:

She is the first soldier successfully rescued behind enemy lines since World War II.
As she was being rescued she said 'I am an American soldier.'
In her homecoming speech, she thanked all the people who helped her.
She was awarded the Bronze Star.
She fought for the US during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After she leaves the Army, she wants to become a teacher.
The staff in the Iraqi hospital she was found in gave her their only sand bed to prevent bedsores.
