The Resume

    (November 2, 1949- )
    Born in Columbus, Ohio
    Birth name was Lois McMaster
    Science fiction and fantasy author
Known for three book series: the Vorkosigan Saga, the Challon series, and the Sharing Knife series

Why she might be annoying:

She stopped writing after college and did not resume until her 30s.
The first three novels in the Vorkosigan Saga were rejected by multiple publishers until Baen Books bought them, and brought all three out in the same year. (‘Leading the uninitiated to imagine that I wrote a book every three months.’)
She said, ‘I regard a lot of the PR — book tours, speeches, appearances, media interviews — with much the same dismay as a non-swimming parent would contemplate the prospect of jumping into a raging torrent to rescue their child.’

Why she might not be annoying:

In college, she co-published a Star Trek fanzine titled ‘Star Date.’
She is a metal artist and welder, and has been a vice-president of the Northwest Blacksmith Association and an artist in residence at the Appalachian Center for Craft.
She is supportive of fanfiction involving her characters.
She won five Hugo Awards for best novel, matching the record held by Robert Heinlein.
