Mascot

The Resume

    (May 1, 1996-July 12, 1998)
    Born in France
Mascot of the 1998 FIFA World Cup
    A blue anthromorphic rooster
Has 'France 98' on his chest and frequently seen with a soccer ball
Created by French artist Fabrice Pialot

Why he might be annoying:

He looks like a cross between Foghorn Leghorn and Woody Woodpecker.
He's often confused with Jules: the mascot of the French national soccer team.
Since the 1998 World Cup, a 'footix' is the term given by the French to a person who only becomes a fan of a sports team once they start winning big.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is representative of France's national symbol, the rooster.
His name is a mix of 'football' and French comic-hero 'Asterix.'
He was always smiling and full of spirit.
He was able to cheer on France as they won the World Cup on home soil.
