Attorney
    (February 23, 1957- )
    Born in Omaha, Nebraska
    Birth name was Virginia Lamp
Labor relations specialist for the United States Chamber of Commerce (1985-89)
Policy analyst for Congressman Dick Armey (1994-99)
Consultant for the Heritage Foundation (2000- )
Founder of the tea party group Liberty Central (2009)
Married Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (1987)
She lobbied against the Family and Medical Leave Act and against comparable worth legislation requiring equal pay for men and women in equivalent jobs.
She solicited resumes for potential appointees in the administration of George W. Bush while her husband was ruling in the Bush v. Gore election dispute.
Her response to conflict of interest charges is, 'There's a lot of judicial wives and husbands out there causing trouble. I'm just one of many.'
She is fond of telling tea-party rallies, 'I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Nebraska'... who just happens to be married to a Supreme Court justice.
She left a voice mail message for Anita Hill (October 9, 2010) asking for an apology for Hill's accusations of sexual harassment against Clarence Thomas. (It's been two decades, Virginia. Just let it go!)
Hill's response was, 'I appreciate that no offense was intended, but she can’t ask for an apology without suggesting that I did something wrong, and that is offensive.'
The Washington Post wrote that she has 'a smile that makes you smile.'
After leaving the controversial 'self-awareness' group Lifesspring, she had to move to another part of the country to escape harassing phone calls (1985).
She organized anti-cult workshops for Congressional staffers.
Before marrying Clarence Thomas, she was named one of '28 Young Women of Promise' by Good Housekeeping magazine (1986).
She is loyal to her husband.
She baked homemade cookies for tea party leaders coming to DC to lobby Congress against the Obama administration's health care bill.
She said, 'My favorite times are when people who have worked with me for over ten years come to understand only later that I am the wife of Justice Thomas.'
