Terrorist

The Resume

    (April 2, 1955- )
Born in East Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
Member of the Northern Ireland loyalist Ulster Defense Association (UDA)
Attacked a funeral at Milltown Cemetery in Belfast, killing three people and injuring more than 60 (March 16, 1988)
    Sentenced to life in prison
Paroled under the Good Friday Peace Agreement (2000)
Attempted to enter the Northern Ireland Parliament buildings armed with three knives, a hatchet, a garotte and several homemade explosives (November 24, 2006)
Received a 16-year sentence for attempted murder

Why he might be annoying:

He joined the UDA at age sixteen, after demonstrating his willingness to kill by shooting a dog he had just been playing with.
While undergoing paramilitary training, he would rub sand and dirt into his clothes to convince his family he was working as a builder.
His attack on the cemetery was caught by television cameras.
After being arrested, he admitted to having shot dead three other people between 1984 and 1987; he claimed the victims were linked to the IRA, but the evidence indicates that they were ordinary civilians.
After his release he said, 'I do not regret any fatalities that have occurred.'
He and his girlfriend exchanged bullet-proof vests for Christmas (2001).
At his trial for attacking Parliament, he claimed it was actually 'an act of performance art.'
The judge called his defense 'hopelessly unconvincing.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was caught and beaten by the crowd at Milltown Cemetery, and still walks with a limp from a dislocated thigh bone.
He took up painting while in prison.
He said of his refusal to apologize, 'If I was to say sorry, I believe it would fall on deaf ears. I would be called a hypocrite.'
After his release from prison, he faced death threats from both the IRA and Loyalist groups that were furious with his support of the Good Friday agreement.
He said, 'I tell youngsters now who still think I am some sort of Loyalist hero: 'There is nothing romantic about taking a life. It is cold and brutal.'' (2003)
