Established the 'Tweed Ring,' a group of corrupt politicians based in Tammany Hall
Elected Alderman (1851) and New York State Senator (1867)
Full name was William Marcy Tweed
Part of his career is depicted in the film 'Gangs of New York'

Why he might be annoying:

He had New York politics under his control for 10 years.
He stole between $30,000,000 and $200,000,000 from New York City.
He climbed up the political ladder through complicated and extremely dirty schemes.
He forced people to vote in favor of the New York State governor and New York City Mayor of his choice.
He was convicted and served two years in jail (1873 – 1875).
He was arrested again on a civil charge shortly after he was released from prison, but escaped to Cuba and later Spain.

Why he might not be annoying:

The City sued him for all that money he stole.
His career evolved from carpenter, volunteer fireman, accountant, alderman, Congressman, to New York state Senator.
He was exposed by the New York Times through a satirical cartoon.
He was extradited from Spain back to the U.S.
He died during his second jail term.
With the exception of his brief exile, he lived nearly all his life in New York City.
