The Resume

    (February 14, 1856-August 27, 1931)
    Born in Galway, Ireland
Birth name was James Thomas Harris
Edited the newspapers 'Evening News,' 'Fortnightly Review' and 'Saturday Review' and the magazine 'Pearson's'
Wrote 'Oscar Wilde, His Life and Confessions' (1916) and 'My Life and Loves' (1922)

Why he might be annoying:

His relentless social climbing prompted Oscar Wilde to observe, 'Frank Harris has been invited to all the great houses in England -- once.'
He was expelled from the University of Heidelberg for beating up a student who bumped against him in the street.
As a tabloid journalist, he admitted to blackmailing celebrities for money.
    He was a hypochondriac.
He claimed he first had sex at age five.
He had Lloyd's of London insure a card file containing the names of the 1,000 women he claimed to have slept with.

Why he might not be annoying:

Despite Wilde's catty remark, the two were good friends, with Harris offering to arrange for Wilde to escape to France when it became clear that Wilde was about to be convicted of sodomy.
He later petitioned the prison authorities to improve Wilde's conditions, including permitting access to writing materials.
'My Life and Loves' was considered such hot stuff that copies smuggled from Paris sold for $100 in America.
