    Born in San Francisco, California
Portrayed banker Milburn Drysdale in 'The Beverly Hillbillies'
Appeared in the films 'Flight at Midnight' (1939), 'Tarantula' (1955), 'The Incredible Shrinking Man' (1957), 'No Time for Sargeants' (1958), 'The Space Children' (1958), 'King Creole' (1958), 'Five Weeks in a Balloon' (1962), 'Herbie Rides Again' (1972) and 'The Strongest Man in the World' (1975)
He was fired from a job as a laborer at a studio for sneaking into a crowd scene being filmed.
A press agent said, 'He alienated himself from everyone around him. People hated to be around him, he complained so much.'
His attitude cost him a job when Buddy Ebsen refused to offer him a part on 'Barnaby Jones.'
He served with the Merchant Marine in WWII.
Before his acting career took off, he actually worked as a banker.
A California bank official said, 'The bankers all love him.... I have yet to hear a banker complain about the character of Drysdale.'
