Why he might be annoying:

He was widely rumored to have been asked to join with Keith Emerson and Greg Lake when Carl Palmer was unavailable for a reunion primarily so the band could keep its ELP moniker.
He declared, ‘I drive like I play drums – madly!’ and lived up to the boast.
A few months before his death, he broke his foot in a motorcycle accident, forcing him to drop out of a Yngwie Malmsteen tour.
At the time of his fatal car crash, he was driving over 100 miles per hour in bad weather. While talking on a cell phone. And not wearing a seat belt. With a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was adopted and never met his birth parents.
He became a race car driver for Hitachi for a few months (1975).
He played drums on the Comic Relief single ‘The Stonk,’ which topped the British charts and raised £100,000 for charity (1991).
He appeared on the BBC show ‘Record Breakers,’ where he played 400 drums in less than a minute (1991).
