    He worked for Ted Turner.
    On one occasion in a Braves Radio Network broadcast, he brought up just his memory of meeting Shirley Povich at the Washington Post rather than his old job position at the news organization.
    He looks like 'The Simpsons' character Mr. Burns.
    He witnessed the Braves' 106 loss season (1988).

    He earned the nickname 'The Professor' due to his game preparations with baseball knowledge.
    Aside from Braves games, he did play-by-play commentary for the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Flames, Atlanta Falcons pre-season football and the Big Ten Conference college football games.
    He won the Georgia Sportscaster of the Year Award 11 times.
    He and Skip Caray were enshrined together into the Braves Hall of Fame (2004).
