Why he might be annoying
As a senator, he introduced the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which stated that the people should decide whether a state allows slavery or not.
He stated that people living in the Louisiana Purchase territories should be able to own slaves.
He and Abraham Lincoln were notorious rivals.
He lost his bid for the presidency against Lincoln (1860).
Why he might not be annoying
He supported Lincoln after the outbreak of the Civil War.
He toured several states to gather support for the Union cause.
He died of typhoid fever (1861).
Despite being opponents of one another, Lincoln was saddened by his death.
