    Born in Potomac, Maryland
    Forward for the Washington Capitals (1999-2006, 2011-12), Dallas Stars (2006-08), Tampa Bay Lightning (2008-10), Los Angeles Kings (2010), Montreal Canadiens (2010-11, 2013), New York Rangers (2012-13) and the Phoenix Coyotes (2013-14)
    His nickname is 'Halpie.'
    In 2003-04 following the Caps fire sale, his 46 points led the team in scoring.
    Despite growing up in the Washington, D.C. area, the Caps made no effort to re-sign him when he became a free agent.
    He played on three teams in a four year span between 2006 and 2010.
    His productivity declined in the seasons following his initial departure from the Capitals.
    He is the first Princeton alum to play in the NHL.
    He grew up a Capitals fan and signed with his hometown team following college.
    He served as the Capitals team captain (2005-06).
    He lost his mother in an auto accident (2005).
    He roomed with future Bachelorette winner Ian McKee at Princeton.
    He is the first hockey player to come from the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area to make it to the NHL.
