    (January 8, 1864-January 14, 1892)
Born in Windsor, England, United Kingdom
    Duke of Clarence and Avondale
Known informally in the royal family as 'Prince Eddy'
Oldest son of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII)
    Grandson of Queen Victoria
His tutor, John Neale Dalton, complained that his mind was 'abnormally dormant.'
His trip to India in 1889 was rumored to have been designed to get him out of England to avoid the breaking Cleveland Street scandal, involving a male brothel with an aristocratic clientèle.
His treatment for gout in 1890 was rumored to be a cover for VD.
Many years after his death, he was accused of being Jack the Ripper.
His reputation sank so low that some later biographers suggested that his death (officially from influenza) was a murder to remove him from the line of succession.
Some historians suggested his learning difficulties may have been caused by his inheriting his mother's hearing problems or by Dalton being a poor teacher.
There was no evidence he ever patronized the Cleveland Street brothel and plans for his trip to India had been announced months before the scandal broke.
He was at Balmoral Castle in Scotland during two of the Ripper slayings, which you would think would rule him out as a suspect.
If anyone did bump him off, it was apparently done without the consent of the royal family, who were devastated by his death.
