    (May 3, 1971- )
    Born in United States
    Corporation: Media & entertainment mega-conglomerate
Originally established as a television syndication distributor spun off from CBS
Restructured and partially re-integrated into CBS in 2005
    Owned Paramount Pictures since 1994
Owns and runs the cable channels MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Showtime, BET and Comedy Central
Company name is an acronym for 'Visual & Audio Communications'
The pronunciation of the company name is open for debate ('VEE-a-com' or 'VYE-a-com'?)
The company was forced to be spun off from CBS during the early 1970s due to FCC regulations at that time.
They are extremely serious about protecting their copyrighted intellectual property, even threatening legal action against Youtubers and Internet fansites over using their content.
They removed their cable channels from DirecTV for two weeks over a contract negotiations dispute (July 2012).
During 1977-1985, their TV closing logo (A giant stylized 'V' zooming up toward the screen to a loud bombastic synth-and-timpani fanfare) gained notoriety for scaring younger viewers, earning the nickname 'The V of Doom'.
They gave us many of the most popular networks in the history of cable television.
They are one of the largest and most successful entertainment conglomerates in the world.
They've been able to hold their own against other entertainment companies such as Disney and TimeWarner.
The company eventually phased out the 'V of Doom' logo, beginning with tamer modernized versions of the iconic 'V' in 1986.
The 'V of Doom' is now often seen and discussed as television nostalgia on the Internet.
