    (April 29, 1945-March 16, 1970)
    Birth name was Thomasina Montgomery
Born and died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Famed for duets with Marvin Gaye
Hits included 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough (1967)' and 'You're All I Need To Get By (1968)'
Died of a brain tumor at 24
Her stage name was taken from a Debbie Reynolds song.
She dated James Brown while working as his backup singer.
Rumors persist that her brain ailment was caused by abuse from her boyfriend, Temptation David Ruffin.
She wore a fake beauty mark near her mouth.
She collapsed in Marvin Gaye's arms as the pair performed onstage in Virginia (October 14, 1967).
After her diagnosis, she continued to write material, but was too ill to record the new music.
She endured 8 operations, memory loss and paralysis.
Her illness and subsequent death caused much of Marvin Gaye's introspective maturity on his acclaimed 1971 album 'What's Going On.'
