Why he might be annoying:

He was addicted to alcohol and heroin in the 70's.
    He is divorced.
He died in his car at 37 years old from a drug overdose (February 15, 1981).
As a child, he was a loner and was known as a social outcast.
The band he was once in, The Electric Flag, broke up after constant arguments, rivalries and heroin addiction.
His name is close to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Why he might not be annoying:

He became interested in music after he listened to Southern Rock radio stations and after sneaking out to listen to the blues at clubs.
When he started playing guitar at clubs, a lot of his fans were other blues musicians who were old enough to be his father.
He was close friends and performed frequently with Bob Dylan.
After the fame and commercial success was too much for him, he took a break and became a session guitarist, writing and recording for movie soundtracks.
He ranked #22 in Rolling Stone's 'Top 100 Guitarists of All Time.'
