Why they might be annoying:

They were dishonorably discharged from military service for various rule violations and crimes.
Ron, the dominant twin, was a paranoid schizophrenic.
Ron was involved in a homosexual scandal in 1964 with Conservative politician Lord Robert Boothby.
Ron chided Reg for marrying a woman in 1965, leading to a breakup after just eight weeks.
Ron shot a man to death in 1966 after being called a 'fat poof.'
In 1967 Reg, encouraged by his brother, stabbed a man in the eye and plunged a knife straight through him, pinning him to the floor.
After Ron, a bisexual, was declared criminally insane, he married a former topless dancer in a mental institution.

Why they might not be annoying:

They contracted diphtheria at age three, which may have led to Ron's mental problems.
Their father abandoned them when they were six after deserting the army.
They were both amateur boxers with undefeated records.
The satirical Monty Python's Flying Circus sketch 'The Piranha Brothers' (Doug and Dinsdale) was based on their exploits.
They were both given one day out of prison in August 1982 to attend their mother's funeral.
