    He was largely forgotten until his margin victory shot record was in jeopardy.
    He lost the U.S. Open to his brother (1906) and to Fred McLeod (1908).
    He was hampered by injuries while he was at a country club as it got plundered in the Mexican Revolution.

    He was part of a well-known golfing family.
    He won a U.S. Open seven years before his oldest brother did.
    He held his margin victory shot record with 11 all throughout the 20th Century until Tiger Woods broke it with a 15 shot margin victory in the 2000 U.S. Open.
    He and his brother Alex were designers of the golf course, Club de Golf Chapultepec.
