Football Player

The Resume

    (August 6, 1947-June 7, 2020)
    Born in Bartow, Florida
Drafted 135th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1969 NFL Draft
Cornerback for the Cincinnati Bengals (1969–83)
Head coach for the Florida A & M football team (1986-93)

Why he might be annoying:

He spent his entire career playing for a Bengals team that was mired in obscurity.
He was never mentioned in the same discussion as his contemporaries, due to the fact he played in Cincinnati.
Despite his reputation as a shutdown defender, he never was selected to a Pro Bowl roster.
He received little to no recognition for his accomplishments with the Bengals.
He left the Bengals on bad terms when Mike Brown took over the team.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was converted from a quarterback to a cornerback upon being drafted by the Bengals.
He excelled at the cornerback position, which in turn validated Paul Brown's decision to convert him.
He was a member of the Bengals team that made their first Super Bowl appearance (1982).
He left the Bengals as the franchise leader in interceptions, interception return yards, and interception return touchdowns.
He was ok with the fact he never received mainstream recognition for his football performance.
