Formed as The Rhondells by Tom Dawes and Don Dannemann who were attending Lafayette College in Easton, PA
    1966 line-up:
Tom Dawes - lead guitar, bass, lead vocals (July 25, 1944-October 13, 2007)
Don Dannemann - rhythm guitar, lead vocals (May 9, 1944- )
    Marty Fried - drums, vocals (1944- )
Earle Pickens - keyboards (first album only)
Recorded 'Red Rubber Ball' and 'Turn Down Day'
Portrayed themselves and recorded the soundtrack for the movie 'The Minx' (released in 1969)
They changed their name because they felt The Rondells sounded too 'surf & cars' oriented.
They are a two hit wonder.
They presented themselves for show tapings as a trio even though they were a quartet.
    They went through three keyboardists.
They were offered the Paul Simon penned '59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)' but turned it down and Harper's Bizarre turned it into a Top 20 hit.
After the break-up Dawes and Dannemann both became commercial jingle writers and Fried a bankruptcy lawyer.
Dawes is responsible for the Alka-Seltzer 'plop plop fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is' jingle.
Dawes played bass for Simon and Garfunkel while Dannemann did a hitch with the U.S. Coast Guard.
Paul Simon co-wrote 'Red Rubber Ball' and allowed them to record it while they toured with Simon and Garfunkel.
'Red Rubber Bal' was a million seller and reached #2 on Billboard's Singles chart in 1966.
Brian Epstein was their manager and got them U.S. touring dates with The Beatles.
It's been said John Lennon was the one who came up with their new name and its psychedelic spelling.
They reformed in 1986 for a one concert gig at Lafayette College (Dawes & Dannemann's alma mater) to benefit the Hands Across America project.
Dawes died of a stroke at age 63 (October 13, 2007).
