    Short story collections include The King in Yellow, The Maker of Moons and The Tree of Heaven
    Novels include In the Quarter, The Red Republic, and In Secret
    Wrote the 'Lands' series of children's books: Garden Land, Forest Land, River Land etc

Why he might be annoying:

    He also wrote romantic fiction.
    His critics, including H. P. Lovecraft and Frederic Taber Cooper, all of whom were fans, said he could have been much better than he was.
    None of his work has been filmed.
    The King in Yellow is flat out weird.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was an snazzy dresser.
    He started out as an artist and studied art in France before turning to writing.
    His son also became a famous author.
    He also wrote well-received historical fiction.
    August Derleth and H. P. Lovecraft incorporated the names of things and places from his works into theirs.
