    He was NL leader for home runs allowed with 16 (1946).
    His demand for a $15,000 salary raise for the Cardinals led to being traded to the Braves.
    He had arm problems that led him to be out of baseball for the 1948 season.
    He gave up a pitch for Duke Snider's 3-run home run in his final pitching appearance (May 7, 1949).
    He was divorced.
    He spent his life after baseball drinking alcohol and frequently changed jobs until he died.

    He had an outstanding season as he was the 1942 NL MVP for posting 22 wins, 10 shutouts with a 1.78 ERA.
    He struck out 12 batters against the St. Louis Browns to secure a shut-out in Game 5 of the 1944 World Series.
    He recorded three 20+ win seasons including the two seasons he led for wins in the NL (1942-1944).
    He and his brother Walker Cooper played together as Cardinal teammates.
    He was enshrined into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame (2019).
