    He was nicknamed 'Bam Bam.'
    While at the University of Wisconsin, he set several school records for penalty minutes.
    He did not play in the US victory over the USSR, because he had broken his ankle several months before the Olympics, leading to concerns about his mobility.
    He sat out the 1980-81 season in a contract dispute with the Kings.
    He never made it to the <10801>NHL>/10801>.
    He said, 'I guess I didn't have the patience to see if I could make it. I didn't want to be a career minor leaguer. I wanted to get on with my life.'
    He was a member of the Wisconsin Badgers team that won the NCAA hockey championship (1977).
    Olympic coach Herb Brooks admired his tenacity and competitive spirit.
    Captain Mike Eruzione said, 'If you had to go to war, you would want to go with Bobby Suter.'
    Gary Suter said, 'He was the sort of guy you hated playing against and loved having him your team.'
    He coached youth hockey in Madison and was part-owner and director of the Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, Wisconsin.
