Why she might be annoying:

She skated to the same music as Katarina Witt in the 1988 Olympics ('Carmen').
She was leading going in the free skate, but 20 seconds in, she landed badly. Realizing that she probably lost her opportunity for the gold, she dogged the rest of her skate, including not doing her two scheduled triples.
She claims she erased the memory of the 1988 Olympics, in that it was a disappointment to her.

Why she might not be annoying:

She is the first black person to win a medal at the Winter Olympics.
Despite being a dedicated skater, she was pre-med at Stanford.
She graduated Stanford with a degree in engineering (1991).
She graduated Northwestern University Medical School (1997).
She teaches inner city Chicago youth how to figure skate.
She appeared on the cover of Time Magazine's Olympic preview issue (February, 1988).
