    Starred in the sketch comedy TV series 'The Harry Secombe Show' (1968-73)
    Appeared in the films 'Down Among the Z Men' (1952), 'Oliver!' (1968), 'The Bed-Sitting Room' (1969), 'Doctor in Trouble' (1970) and 'Song of Norway' (1970)
    Appeared on Broadway in 'Pickwick' (1965)
    Recorded the singles 'On with the Motley' (1955), 'If I Ruled the World' (1963) and 'This Is My Song' (1967)
    Wrote the novels 'Twice Brightly' (1974) and 'Welsh Fargo' (1981) and the children's book 'Katy and the Nurgla' (1980)
    For his first show biz gig, he provided entertainment between the strippers at a burlesque hall.
    He described his career as built 'on such tenuous foundations as a high-pitched giggle, a raspberry and a sprinkling of top Cs.'
    After he was knighted, he started calling himself Sir Cumference in reference to his rotund figure.
    He served with the Royal Artillery in North Africa during WWII.
    He was married to Myra Atherton for 53 years until his death. ('Marriage is a lottery and I picked a winning ticket. I've always been loyal and so has she.')
    Milligan and Sellers credited his singing talents with saving the act during several performances when the comedy bombed.
    He was heavily involved in charity work for the Army Benevolent Fund and the Stars Organization for Spastics.
    His memorial service was attended by lifelong Goon Show fan Prince Charles.
