It introduced us to the hoary and cherubic 'Ewok Guy' and the rapping 'PG&E Lady.'
He often referred to his desk as a 'Bavarian oak desk.'
After five years, he abdicated the show, later saying that the late night timeslot was 'crowded' and that he wanted to be part of "the first comedy show at dinner time.'
He promised his audience that if his favorite NBA team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, won the championship, he would return for one guest host episode.
Six years later, he disastrously attempted a comeback by launching a similar talk show called 'The Kilborn File.' The show bombed in the ratings and was canceled after six weeks.
In later seasons, a new theme song for the program was recorded by Chris Isaak.
Tuesday shows would often feature a segment starring Buddy Hackett.
His sketch 'To Blank with Love' probably gave future talk show host Jimmy Fallon inspiration for 'Thank You Notes' on his own talk show.
Model Petra Nemcova was featured in recurring sketches involving her and Kilborn reporting on the weather.
Craig Ferguson took over as host in January 2005.
