Why he might be annoying:

He and Carl Foreman wrote the screenplay for 'A Bridge on the River Kwai,' but it was credited to Pierre Boulle.
Boulle had written the novel that the film was based on in French, and didn't speak any English.
He co-wrote the screenplay for 'Lawrence of Arabia,' but did not receive screen credit for it.
Because he was blacklisted, when he was nominated for an Oscar for 'Friendly Persuasion,' the nomination read 'Writer ineligible for nomination under Academy by-laws.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was blacklisted.
He won an Academy Award in his own name for 'A Place in the Sun.'
He was awarded screen credit for 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'A Bridge on the River Kwai' after his death.
His widow was finally given his Oscar for 'A Bridge on the River Kwai' in 1985, twenty-eight years after the film had been released.
