They sold merchandise before they had even released a song to the public.
Alain Johannes, who joins the band as an extra guitarist on live performances, is substantially less famous than the three rock stars that formed the group.
They teased eager fans for the month leading up to their debut album by giving them 14 second clips of songs.
While Foo Fighter and QOTSA fans' reaction was overwhelmingly positive to the new group, it delayed the releases of new material by the two bands.
It put Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters/Nirvana fame, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame, and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age fame in the same band together.
Their debut show was a midnight performance in Chicago after Lollapalooza '09, that completely overshadowed the 3-day music festival.
They decided to stream their entire album for free online shortly before it was released in stores via their YouTube page by saying, 'Fuck patience. Let's dance.'
Both Josh and Dave are famous frontmen, and trade off vocal duties on 'Mind Eraser, No Chaser.'
Multi-instrumentalist, John Paul Jones gets to show off his keyboard skills in the band as well with a crazy solo on 'Scumbag Blues.'
