    It completes the names of musicians Ophelie, Edgar and Johnny, and actors Eric, Alex and Ariel.
    It contains two major holidays - Christmas and New Year's Day (and for good measure St. Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day).
    Every four years the Winter Olympics (naturally) are held during its tenure.
    Ski buffs can't get enough of it.
    On extremely cold days it gets the global warming theorists to shut up for awhile.
    You're usually not bothered by pesky insects during winter.
    It helps give folks a better appreciation toward the other three seasons.
