Why he might be annoying:

    He was a journeyman player.
    He notoriously taunted Jewish fans at Yankee Stadium by doing Nazi salutes and shouting racial epithets.
    He deliberately spiked Buddy Myer, which ignited a brawl amongst fans and players alike (1933).
    While managing in the minors, he was suspended the entire 1943 season after he punched an umpire in the head.
    His managerial career was better known for him objecting the integration of African-Americans in Major League Baseball.
    He instructed his pitchers to intentionally bean Jackie Robinson.
    His prejudice towards Jackie Robinson was so great, that he was forced to be photographed with Robinson in the teams next meeting, which prompted Dixie Walker to say 'I never thought I'd see old Ben eat shit like that.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was considered one of the best stolen base leaders of his decade,
    He earned a World Series ring as a member of the Yankees (1932).
    He led the American League in stolen bases and triples (1934).
    He served as a player/manager for the Phillies during his first two seasons with the club.
    In an interview during the 1980's, he showed remorse about his racist behavior and stated he was glad he raised his son not to have the racist mindset he had during his baseball career.
