Why he might be annoying:

He didn't have a 'c' in his Dik.
He wanted to be a journalist but was told his drawing was far superior to his writing.
Working with an advertising company, he created the Chiquita Banana and the Birdseye Bird trademark logos.
He revealed he hated drawing 'autos or table settings.'
Claiming he loves to eat, he became obese and when he grew a shaggy beard, looked like his Hägar character.
Retiring in 1988, he died less than a year later.

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and drew 'Ginny Jeep,' a comic strip that appeared in Army and Air Force newspapers.
Drawing for Boy's Life magazine in the 1950's, he caught the interest of a King Features Syndicate editor who teamed him with Walker to create 'Hi and Lois,' an immediate hit.
He was the first cartoonist to receive a Reuben Award for two different comic strips.
After his wife died in 1986, he founded the Joan Browne Fund for Critical Care at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida.
Proving talent runs in the family, after his '88 retirement, his son Chance took over drawing duties for 'Hi and Lois' and son Chris keeps 'Hägar the Horrible' going.
By 2001, 'Hi and Lois' was running in over 1,100 newspapers, world-wide in 37 countries and in 10 languages.
Even more impressively, 'Hägar the Horrible' was running in nearly 2,000 newspapers, world-wide in 58 countries and in 13 languages.
