Why he might be annoying:

He got his first legal job thanks to a letter written by his grandfather, the former Secretary of State under President Benjamin Harrison.
According to the book ‘Overthrow,' he supported the Nazis during the 1930s.
He was appointed to the US Senate to fill a vacated seat from New York, but lost the election four months later (1949).
Although he attacked the Truman administration's policy of ‘containment' and urged a ‘rollback' of Communism, he was unable to provide support for popular uprisings in East Germany (1953) and Hungary (1956).
He angered much of the Third World when he called neutrality ‘immoral and shortsighted.' (June 9, 1955)
He was an early proponent of the ‘Domino Theory' that prompted US involvement in the Vietnam War.

Why he might not be annoying:

As legal counsel at the Versailles Peace Conference, he argued against imposing crushing reparations on Germany (1919).
He negotiated the US peace treaty with Japan and a US-Japan security pact (1951).
He was the principal architect of the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) and the ANZUS treaty with Australia and New Zealand.
Dulles Airport was named after him.
