    Defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers (1995-1996)
    Head coach of the New England Patriots (1997-1999) and Seattle Seahawks
    Head coach of the USC Trojans (2001-2009)
    NCAA football championship coach (2003, 2004)
    His NFL career is largely regarded as a failure.
    When he became the Patriots coach, they went from being runners-up in the Super Bowl to posting mediocre records.
    He spent an entire season out of football after being fired from the Patriots.
    Two of his children have attended USC.
    During the 2005 season, he and player LenDale White pulled a prank on the rest of the football team when they made them believe that they had seen White commit suicide.
    He reportedly cursed out an official during a USC loss to Oregon.
    He is considered an expert at producing professional football players.
    His teams routinely beat tough opponents.
    He is one of the most successful head coaches in USC history.
    Despite his reputation of being a poor NFL coach, his total NFL win-loss ratio is 33-31.
    He is considered to be one of the most enthusiastic coaches in the game.
    Several of his assistants have moved to the NFL, including Norm Chow and Lane Kiffin.
