Why he might be annoying:

It is unclear whether he actually existed.
He was banished from Egypt by the Pharoah.
When he was unable to produce a child with his wife, he fathered a child with his Egyptian servant instead.
He supposedly had his first son at age 90 and his second at 100.
He almost sacrificed one of his sons to God as a show of loyalty.
He inspired the irritating children's song 'Father Abraham,' where each verse a different part of the body has to move to the music.
He promised the Arab 'Holy Land' to the 'Chosen People,' sparking Middle East land conflicts that continue to this day.

His name means 'father of the people.'
He was gutsy enough to declare there was only one God, in a time when people worshipped many gods.
He was not blindly faithful, for he challenged and asked questions about his own beliefs.
