    She wrote two autobiographies.
She was actually Grace Kelly's second choice to design her wedding dress when she married Prince Rainier but was obligated to use one of MGM's own designers in exchange for their letting her out of her movie contract (her first was <11265>Edith Head,<1126>).
Ilka Chase, a columnist who attended the wedding, shaded her design, dryly observing: '[it was] a charming dress, but not a superb one.'
One reporter gushed about the gown's bridal train 'flowing like a river of whipped cream among the plush red floor.'
She was hired by MGM after designer Adrian's departure, and by the late 1940s, was promoted to chief designer at the studio.
In addition to her two Oscar wins, she was nominated by the Academy eight more times.
She designed wedding gowns for Debbie Reynolds and Jane Powell.
Elizabeth Taylor loved the design for her 'Father of the Bride' wedding gown so much that she commissioned Rose to design a duplicate for her own marriage to Nicky Hilton.
She successfully ran her own fashion house after retiring from film costume designing.
Kate Middleton was said to have modeled the design for her wedding dress on Grace Kelly's Royal wedding dress.
