He was poisoned after drinking a jug of whiskey that was given to him by a jealous husband of a woman he had been seeing.
He's popular in the merchandising industry, with T-shirts, postcards, posters, guitar picks and other items.

After he was poisoned, he kept playing shows until he was too sick to play, he was bought back to a boarding home where he had he had to lay in bed for several days and sweat the poison out of his body.
Unfortunately the sweating made him catch pneumonia and he died a few days later from it.
He is one of the most influential guitarists and musicians ever, influencing artists including Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, George Harrison and Steve Miller.
His box sets, bootlegs and early recordings have went on to sell millions of copies.
He is commonly referred to as a 'blues legend' and 'the most celebrated figure in the history of blues.'
