The Resume

    (February 6, 1859-September 13, 1941)
    Born in Canada
    Elias Charles Disney
Father of Roy O. Disney and Walt Disney
Married Flora Call (Disney) on January 1, 1888
Also father to Ruth Disney (1903-95), Raymond Disney (1890-1989), and Herbert Disney (1888-1961)
Ran/owned the newspaper delivery route for The Kansas City Star/Kansas City Times (sold the route on March 17, 1917)

Why he might be annoying:

He was a vocal socialist who idolized Eugene V. Debs.
His attempts to make a living as a farmer, a businessman, a gold miner, and an orange grower met with little success.
He was known as a stern parent who frequently beat his sons (if only for disciplinary measures).
He enlisted his sons' aid in delivering newspapers throughout the Kansas City-area, very often in harsh winter weather (and he would usually take the kids' earnings for 'safekeeping').
He clashed with Walt throughout his life over his decision to be a cartoonist, preferring that his son get 'a real job.'
Probably not coincidentally, his relationship with Walt steadily improved as his success within the film industry expanded.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was an avid fiddler.
He was a tireless worker who did the best he could to provide for his family.
His wife died in 1938, as the result of gas asphyxiation from a lingering and hidden gas leak in their house.
He lived to see his two sons Walt Disney and Roy Oliver Disney establish the Disney Bros. Studio and later Walt Disney Productions.
He grew to love and be fascinated with his son's animated cartoons and early films; 'Pinocchio' especially.
He worked as a construction builder for the Columbian Exposition at the Chicago World's Fair, which has led some to conclude that it was the early inspiration for his son to build the Magic Kingdom.
This would seem rather unlikely, as Walt was born in 1901 - some seven years after the Fair was concluded (although its just as possible that young Walt heard stories from his father about building 'the city' that equally intrigued him).
After his death, Walt publicly said: 'I adored my dad because he always set very high standards for his children; he desired for each one of us to be successful!'
