    Head baseball coach for Elon University (1927-38) and the Snow Hill Billies (1937-39)
    Head basketball coach for Elon University (1927-37)
    Assistant football coach for Yale University (1951)
    Head football coach for Atlantic Christian University (1926), Elon University (1927-36), Wake Forest University (1937-50) and the Montreal Alouettes (1952-59)
    Professional scout for the New York Giants (1960-70)

    He was notorious for drinking, smoking and committing adultery.
    His practice drills were described as being too intense by his former players.
    He carried a large stack of cash on him to pay off his players for voting on skipping the Gator Bowl game (1946).
    He resigned his position at Wake Forest as a result of a salary dispute.
    He guided the Alouettes to three consecutive Grey Cup losses against the Edmonton Eskimos (1954-56).
