U.S. Governor

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

His surname sounds like either 'walls' or 'waltz.'
Since he chose to retire from the Army National Guard after his unit was moved from Italy to Iraq, he did not complete his conditional requirements to maintain his rank as a command sergeant major.
As a result, his rank was changed back to master sergeant after he left the service.
As a congressman, his voting record was quite liberal for a Republican leaning district.
However, he had a fairly conservative position on guns as a congressman that later changed after he became governor.
The 2020 Twin Cities riots over the extrajudicial killing of George Floyd happened under his watch.
Furthermore, Minnesota State Police officers arrested Omar Jimenez, a black Latino CNN journalist and his camera crew as he was calmly reporting on the front lines of the uprising live on national television (May 29, 2020).
This resulted in condemnation from both civil rights activists and fellow journalists (including from Fox News Channel) and an apology from Walz on behalf of the Minnesota State Police.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is of German, Irish, and Swedish ancestry.
He was a teacher at both at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and as part of WorldTeach's efforts in China.
He served in the Army National Guard for 24 years (1981-2005) and was earned the title of Nebraska Citizen-Soldier of the Year in 1989.
In a stunning upset, he defeated incumbent Gil Gutknecht in becoming a congressional representative for Minnesota's first district.
His approach to government is bipartisan.
He opposed President George W. Bush's surge in troops in the latter half of Iraq war.
His brother Craig was killed by a falling tree during a storm in 2016.
He has a self-deprecating sense of humor.
