Why he might be annoying:

He murdered at least four people.
His middle name really is Tookie.
He bragged and laughed about murdering people.
He spent 6 1/2 years in solitary confinement for multiple assaults on guards and fellow inmates.
His son has also been convicted of murder.
He refused to give names of other gang members to police, or detail the organization of the gang, claiming he doesn't want to be a snitch.
The Crips gang he founded has been blamed for hundreds of murders.
His execution became another opportunity for celebrities to show how much 'they care.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
He doesn't swear.
In 1997, he wrote an apology for his role in creating the Crips.
According to many of the original members of the gang, it was initially started as a means to keep the streets safe, reducing violence and police brutality.
He said ‘we started out—at least my intent was to, in a sense, address all of the so-called neighboring gangs in the area and to put, in a sense—I thought I can cleanse the neighborhood of all these, you know, marauding gangs. But I was totally wrong. And eventually, we morphed into the monster we were addressing.'
Prison officials say he has not had an infraction since 1993.
He has published children's books advocating non-violence and alternatives to gangs.
