The Resume

    (April 24, 1945-November 5, 2017)
    Born in Franklin, Tennessee
    Birth name was Robert Peebles
Recorded the single ‘Everlasting Love’ (1967)

Why he might be annoying:

He changed his name because disc jockeys kept pronouncing his original name ‘Pebbles.’
He was a member of a doo-wop quintet, the Paramounts that recorded a single for Dot Records; when the group broke up and tried to get out of their contract (1961), the ensuing legal mess left him unable to record for four and half years.
He was a one-hit wonder in the US.
His one hit, ‘Everlasting Love,’ was overshadowed by Carl Carlton’s 1974 remake.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was popular on the Carolina beach music scene and the British Northern Soul circuit.
’Everlasting Love’ and another of his 60s records, ‘Love on a Mountain Top,’ became top 20 hits in the UK when they were reissued in 1973-74.
He earned a degree in chemistry from Tennessee State University and became a lab technician and chemistry teacher after the hits dried up.
